A chiller or water chiller is a machine designed to generate water at a low temperature, so that it can be used in air conditioning equipment such as fan & coil units, handlers and precision indoor units.

Precision chillers can be easily integrated into most applications. The chiller uses a cooling circuit to remove the heat charge that passes to the cooling fluid (water or glycol mixture) returning from the application.

A precision chiller's ability to operate in a variety of environmental conditions with varying loads makes them ideal for providing efficient process cooling. The advantages of using chillers for process cooling include the following:

  • Maintain constant and accurate control of the process temperature.
  • The refrigerant fluid can be supplied directly to the heat source of the application.
  • Refrigeration is independent of environmental conditions.
  • Minimize potential process contamination through the closed-loop water circuit.
  • The cooling fluid is recirculated reducing waste and cost.
  • Modular design offers expansion options.
  • High heat exchange capacity.
  • Water is a readily available and low-cost resource in most industries. Potential to be integrated into existing free cooling systems.
